How many horsepower figures does a Trackhawk have and what engine does it use?
Starting with the engine, we find a Dodge Hellcat-sourced 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that pumps out a massive 707 hp (717 PS) and 645 lb-ft (875 Nm) of torque.
Until not so long ago, the Trackhawk was the most powerful SUV in the world, however, Dodge decided to enter the game with the Dodge Durango Hellcat which packs the same engine but with more power, 710 hp (720 PS) and the same torque figures.
But then, Ferrari arrived with a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 and shook things up, as their first-ever SUV, the Ferrari Purosangue comes with 715 hp (725 ps) and 528 lb-ft (716 Nm), making it the new king of the performance SUV market.
And let’s not mention the new BMW XM Label Red, which is now the most powerful SUV in the world with 738 hp.
However, the Trackhawk still holds a privileged position. At the time, there were very few SUVs in the market with more than 700 hp, and that makes the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk special.
Note that we are talking about combustion engines here as if we include electric cars things change a lot, just so you get an idea, the Tesla Model X Plaid comes with 1,020 hp, and the Rivian R1S can produce 835 hp.
What’s the Jeep Trackhawk top speed and how quickly can it accelerate?
When it comes to top speed, the Trackhawk lags behind most of its direct competitors as its top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h) is not very impressive.
If you compare it with some of the competition you’d understand why we think this way. The Lamborghini Urus Performante has a top speed of 190 mph (306 km/h), the Aston Martin DBX 707 can reach a top speed of 193 mph (310 km/h), and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT comes with a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h).
However, you need to realize that the SUVs mentioned above were recently released, while the Trackhawk hasn’t received an update since 2017.
The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is not only a powerful SUV, but it’s also among the quickest in the world as it can speed up from 60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 3,5 seconds.
How much do Trackhawks cost?
When the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk came out in 2017, it went on sale with an MSRP price of $85,900, and you were able to buy it until 2021.
But that doesn’t mean you cannot get a used one, a quick search on the internet has shown us that there are plenty on sale, and their prices range from $60,000 to $95,000.
If you want a Trackhawk, make sure you grab one soon, because it’s very likely that its price will go up in the future as this is the last time we will see such a powerful combustion engine in a Jeep SUV, unless the American brand relies on electrified technology.
Would there be a 2022, 2023, or 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk?
According to Mopar Insiders, Jeep had plans to redesign the Trackhawk by basing it in the new Grand Cherokee, however they decided to discard the idea due to emission regulations and the latest Stellantis plans to electrify all their brands’ line-up.
Nevertheless, there’s a possibility that we might see a hybrid or EV Trackhawk in the future.
We’ve already seen cars like the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S using hybrid technology to unleash a lot of power.
Also, there’s the upcoming hybrid BMW XM Label Red with a confirmed 738 hp (748 PS) and 735 lb-ft (997 Nm) of torque power output.
Whatever happens with the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, it will always be regarded in automobile history as the first production SUV to surpass the 700 hp mark.
