Technology has come a long way, we no longer have to rely on clunky infotainment systems to navigate through the car’s features. We live in a time where Apple and Google offer an alternative that most of the time is better than the automakers’ option. If you are an iPhone user and you are thinking about purchasing an Audi, you might be asking yourself: Do Audi cars have Apple CarPlay?

So find below what this feature does, if Audi cars have it, exactly which models integrate this feature, and if it’s worth using it.

What is Apple CarPlay?

Apple CarPlay integrates your iPhone with your car’s infotainment system so that you can make phone calls, listen to audiobooks, send texts, play music, get directions, and access other Apps.

CarPlay also comes with the possibility to control the car by using Siri, its integration will aid you in voice controlling all the features without having to press any tactile screen, which we know can be quite distracting when driving.

Apple also supports third-party Apps, such as Spotify, Waze, Pandora, CNN, etc.

Almost all automakers integrate Apple CarPlay in most of their models, with very few exceptions that will likely add the functionality in the future.

Basically, Apple CarPlay allows you to use your smartphone from the car’s built-in display.

Do Audi cars have Apple CarPlay? Yes, and here are all the models that do.

Apple CarPlay is integrated into all the current Audi models. You can also find it in some old models, however, don’t look for it in models that came before 2017, as that’s when it started to appear in some models.

If you are looking to buy a used Audi, make sure to check the list, as you might not want to miss out on using CarPlay, notice that some models got this feature for the first time in 2017, and others in 2019, but a few other models got it in 2020. All the electric models acquired it in 2021 or 2022 except the Audi e-tron which received it in 2019.

Is Apple CarPlay worth it?

In short, yes. It works flawlessly in all Audi models, it’s fast and useful. Having iPhone’s maps, music, navigation, etc in your car is fantastic, add to it all the Siri functionalities and it makes it better. Especially in a time when automakers are still struggling with their own infotainment systems.

Note that the Audi infotainment system is great, probably among the best ones in the industry when it comes to fluidity, speed, design, and features. However, many people get used to their smartphone operating system, as it’s very common for iOS users to get used to Android, and vice versa. That’s why having the option to use a similar operating system as iOS in your car makes sense.
