Lamborghini just unveiled the 2023 Lamborghini Urus S, which replaces the standard Urus by providing improvements in every aspects of the car.
Now, you may remember that Lamborghini released the Lamborghini Urus Performante not so long ago which came with more power and a more aggressive design.
We thought the Urus Performante would replace the standard Urus as a facelift model. We were wrong.
The all-new Urus S serves as an entry-level version for the Urus line-up, which now consists of two versions, the Urus S and the Urus Performante.
The Lamborghini Urus S exterior design

The Urus S features a redesigned front bumper with some matte-black stainless steel parts, a new bonnet that now looks more aggressive as it features air vents and it’s made of carbon fiber.
When it comes to wheels, the Italian automaker has fitted the Urus S with standard 21 inches wheels, while new 22 and 23 inches wheels are optional.
The rear bumper gets a slight redesign where it also sports some matte-black stainless steel pieces.
Lamborghini has added some new options to make the Urus S stand out even more.
Other than that, it remains almost identical, the key to differencing the Urus from Urus S is by looking at the front since it’s where the biggest external changes have occurred.
Interior of the 2023 Urus S
When you look at the interior of the Lamborghini Urus S you won’t be able to tell any difference from the old model, however, the key here is in the options.
The Italian automaker has added a bunch of new colors, stitching, and trim options for the new model.
Some of these options can even be found in the Urus Performante.

The Lamborghini Urus S engine and specifications
Here’s where the all-new Lamborghini Urus S stands out from the previous model, as Lamborghini has fitted the SUV with the same engine as the Lamborghini Performante, a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that produces 657 hp (666 PS) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque.
That’s 16 hp (16 PS) more than the standard Urus, while the torque stays identical.
Lamborghini has also enhanced the acceleration of the Urus S, as it can now speed up from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3,5 seconds, 0,1 seconds faster than the standard Urus, however, the Urus Performante is quicker as it can go from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in only 3,3 seconds.
The top speed remains the same as the old Urus, 190 mph (305 km/h), while the Urus Performante also wins here by a slight margin, with a top speed of 190 mph (306 km/h).
Note that the top speed in mph looks identical, but remember that they are rounded, the numbers would convert to 189,5 mph for the Urus S, and 190 mph for the Urus Performante.
But why is the Performante quicker and faster than the Urus if they share the same engine? Well, there is an important weight difference.
While the Urus Performante weighs 4,740 lbs (2,150 kg), the Urus S sacrifices performance for comfort and luxury making it weigh 4,844 lbs (2,197 kg).
It’s still an important improvement over the standard Urus which weighs 4,850 lbs (2,200 kg).
Lamborghini Urus S price and competition
Lamborghini hasn’t released US prices yet, but in Europe, the Urus S starts at 195,538 € ($191,000), less costly than the Urus Performante which will set you back at €218,487 ($210,358).
When it comes to competition, the Urus S is a less exclusive version of the Performante, however, for those who don’t like too much Alcantara and carbon fiber, the Urus S is a great choice since it adds more leather, and a more sophisticated design (in Lamborghini standards).
The problem with this Urus S is that it’s not better on paper than most of its direct competitors. The Aston Martin DBX707 outperforms it and the all-new Ferrari Purosangue is on another level.
However, the new Urus S should easily beat SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga Speed, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, or the recently released BMW XM.
In our opinion, the 2023 Lamborghini Urus S is a good refreshment and we are thankful that Lamborghini is providing two different versions for two different but similar kinds of customers.
